Our Energy and Sustainable Management program empowers the next generation of specialists in energy and sustainable development.

The MSc/MPhil in Energy and Sustainable Management programme aims to achieve the following specific objectives

  1. In-depth Knowledge of Energy Technologies, Industries, and Markets: The programme seeks to develop students’ in-depth knowledge of energy technologies, industries, and markets. Participants will acquire a deep understanding of the complexities and dynamics of the energy sector, including emerging technologies and market trends.
  2. Analytical and Evaluation Skills: The programme aims to enhance participants’ analytical and evaluation skills in risk assessment, value creation, and decision-making related to energy economics and trade efficiency. Students will learn to assess and manage risks, evaluate investment opportunities, and make informed decisions in the energy sector.
  3. Solid Grounding in Energy and Sustainable Management: The programme intends to provide participants with a strong foundation and knowledge in energy, climate change, sustainable management, electricity management, and relevant technical and quantitative techniques. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of key energy issues and the methods of analysis used to evaluate energy markets.
  4. Understanding of the Energy Business Environment: The programme aims to provide students with an understanding of the energy business environment and its fundamental economic and technological concepts. Participants will gain insights into the economic, regulatory, and policy aspects that shape the energy industry.

Upon completing the programme, graduates will have a wide range of employment opportunities available to them. They can pursue careers in various sectors and organizations, including corporate organizations, entrepreneurship, governmental and non-governmental agencies, the petroleum and mining industry, and the power and energy sector. In corporate organizations, graduates can contribute to energy management, sustainability, and project development.

Alternatively, they can start their own energy-related businesses or take on leadership roles in governmental agencies and NGOs focused on energy advocacy and sustainable development. There are also opportunities in the petroleum and mining industry to ensure responsible practices.

To be eligible for the MSc/MPhil in Energy and Sustainable Management programme, applicants must meet the following entry requirements:

Hold a Good Bachelor's Degree

Applicants should hold a good Bachelor’s degree in any discipline, preferably with at least a second-class lower division.

Consideration for Pass/Third Class Degree

Candidates with a Pass/Third Class degree may be considered for admission into the MSc programme if they have 5-10 years of working experience in a relevant field. This recognizes the value of professional experience in the energy sector.

NOTE:

The entry requirements aim to ensure that students have the necessary academic foundation or relevant work experience to engage with the advanced topics covered in the programme.
